Custom Canvases, Trunkt
29.Jun.2005, 10:11 pmGenerations on top of generations ago, some of my genes resided in a Duchess Kristopher in England — Dukes, right? - who carefully lounged, breathing in aristocratic yawns. Loosely poised, the court’s painter captured the Duchess’s languid and porcelain beauty.
Hundreds plus hundreds of years later, all of my genes are jumbled into a Ms. Dukes, who jogs around the New World, hair everywhere, face tense, yelling under her breath at a slow cab. As for portraits, the last time she was in La La Land, a traffic camera snapped her mug, for a low fee of one-hundred-and-something dollars.
Times have changed?
No need to fret though — in the most modern way, Custom Canvases is dedicated to merging Old World patronage with New World needs, creating its own fresh Renaissance of original, personal art. “In the old days artists had patrons who paid for the artist to paint pictures of their dogs, children, and mistresses; giving the artists the freedom to paint whatever they wanted to in their off-time,” says artist Elyas Beria, Founder of Custom Canvases. Send Elyas a snapshot of whatever you love, and he’ll paint its portrait. “I guess what we’re doing is not different. We pain personalized works of art that can feature someone’s child, pet, or house - in essence, making all the people our patrons.”
Maybe I’ll send Elyas that shot of me driving in LA.
