Are you sure that remark was not from Ms. Hilton herself?
As for gramatical correctness, when it comes to published work I must honestly say that I am a stickler for correct spelling and punctuation. What is journalism if not respectful of the language that gives it breath? Maybe get your hands on a nifty little Style Guide, I find mine helps with self-editing.
And if anyone doles out the harshness on your soy lattés again, tell them to go suck on a cow.
