Paris Fashion Week Fall Double-Oh-Seven Review

In a perfect world, I’d own every piece from the Paris runways — give or take those dastardly steel contraptions from the Viktor & Rolf show — and use them to make my personal style shine. Unfortunately, the world is not perfect. But I have found an AmEx credit line-gentle, one-word way to incorporate runway trends into my wardrobe:

Accessories.

Check my five key accoutrements that made Paris runways pop at Fashion Week, and set trends for Fall/Winter 07/08.

Pendant Necklace, Anna Sui Pendant necklaces, whether derived from fabric, precious metal, or wood, are a must-have item for Fall/Winter 07/08. Worn with everything from a mock-neck top to a low-cut gown, pendants can be layered with shorter necklaces or worn alone for a striking effect.
Narrow Belt, Lacoste Narrow belts take us back to the future; forget cinched-waist, ’50s-inspired belts. Narrow belts attractively wrap up a woman’s Fall/Winter 07/08 wardrobe. The rule is simple: belts should not exceed two inches in width.
Knit Hat, Erin Fetherston Knit hats — although newsboy caps are still fair game — are a more modern approach to cool weather. Knit hats are available in a wide array of colors, and can be dressed up — or down — depending on embroidery and sequin accents.
Lace-up Shoes, Matthew Williamson Lace-up shoes aren’t as sturdy as the platform, not as sexy as the tall leather boot, but lace-up shoes are easily the most saucy footwear featured on the Paris catwalks. Paired with tights and a modern mini, they’re more scarlet than Scarlet Letter.
Opera-length Leather Gloves, Carolina Herrera Leather opera gloves aren’t always essential, but they’re always elegant. Worn with a coat or a basic-knit dress, opera-length gloves add a touch of class – even if you’re getting your p.m. on in, bumping Jay-Z with your boy.
