Ooh, never heard that one. During the five minutes I paid attention in “The Bible as Literature” during college, the teach said that the snake was a symbol for matriarchal/earth religions that Christianity/Judaism sort of destroyed/conquered.
But, as with many other things, I’d prefer to think the snake symbolic for a penis.
