Kristopher? With a “K”?

“Hi, may I speak with Kristopher?”
“This is she,” I say, waiting for the usual–
“Oh! Oh… I thought–”
“That I was a gay man?”
“Heh heh! Well,” he says, “I saw your site and the photo and I figured it was stock photography, and then, you know, that part of your site that says, ‘SEX’ in all caps, that didn’t seem like something typically a girl would write.”
“I’m not typical. And though I’m flattered you thought I was a random model, does that mean you also thought the Kristopher behind all these dirty words was a fat man who likes it on his stomach?”
I hear a chuckle float through the phone. “So that’s your real name? Dukes? Kristopher, with a K?”
“Yessir,” I answer. “People think it’s a pen name, but if I’d staged my name, it wouldn’t be long and hard, though that’s how I prefer many things close to me. Instead, my name would be short and easy to spell, and something that didn’t lead everyone to believe that I was a chubby gay dude who fakes his name.”
“So, what’s the story, if you don’t mind my asking?”
“I don’t, and you already asked, anyway,” I say. “Two stories: one, my dad says he named me after an independent actress in a flick he saw. Two, supposedly my older brother, four at the time my mom was knocked up with yours very truly, was allowed to name me, and he insisted I be called Kristopher, though they knew I was going to be a girl.”
“Well, your name is definitely memorable, Kris. Krissy. Can I call you Krissy?”
“Thank you, and no. And I’m totally blogging this.”
He laughs again, a familiar noise now.
“So,” I say, “what’s your name?”
