Hermes Sac Mallette Bag in Crocodile with Silver Hardware
Hating
This Hermes Sac Mallette bag in choco croc with silver hardware has been sold.
Weep with me.
It’s rare to find a Hermes Sac Mallette bag with silver hardware, and the French antique sterling silver’s cold shine against the worn, warm croc is especially choice…

I have a Sac Mallette in Crocodile. Perfect condition, with keys and original protective bag from the original owner. Let me know if you have anyone who might be interested.

My Mom lived in Paris in the fifites and bought a black croc sac mallette from the Hermes store on the Rue to F. St. Honore. Her bag has been fairly well used, but is in good working condition. the finish has worn off on most all the hardware, but the croc is in perfect condition…no rips tears etc.
So I do have a couple of questions…and whomever is pleased to respond directly to my e mail address.
In researching the bag…it seems to be strictly the bag only and not the jewlery case that attaches to the bottom. there are no latches, clips, etc to ever show that it ever fit into a base, and be carried as one unit…..however….that being said there are three little keys in the croc sleeve. The skinny center one opens the main clasp at the top fo the bad…and now I understand what the little flap is for….you pull it to open the bag up. There are two smaller keys…that look like they must have gone to another set of locks for the missing bottom jewlery case..that cannot be found.
So..I guess I would like to know:
Did Heremes make the Sac Mallette just as a handbag (no feet or brass base knubs on bottom of bag)
I know black croc is the MOST rare and expensive…how does that value the bag these days?
How is the vaule affected if the bottom case part is missing?
Some feedback tells me that Hermes only made about 5 of these a year..and only between 1948-1955?
Dying to know,

How fun to see our crocodile HERMES sac mallette posted. I was the dealer who owned, listed and sold that fabulous bag. I hope you’ll give us credit for the photograph, and add our note so people will know we were your source and resource. Tonight I’m listing another sac mallette just the same size as the croc one, but it’s fitted out entirely with French sterling silver and ivory vanity implements, jars, all original. The signature is not HERMES on this one, but we know from earlier research that HERMES did contract some of these out to highle esteemed French silversmiths in the 19th century, such as George Keller, Paris. We do think we’ve got another of those ‘contracted’ cases made by the HERMES company workers. It is fabulous! Come and see it!

Oh, and may I also add, FREDERICK PIERSON: I’m always interested in fine antique and vintage HERMES sac mallettes. If you have one to sell, please contact us. We’re even willing to take them in on consignment. You can do a Google search to locate us since I see my email doesn’t post here. Thanks in advance!
