Most ecards taste too saccharine or read like an ironic T. And while I prefer to swing between extremes, famed photog Patrick McMullan’s ecards work because they’re neither hip nor square — just chic.
Make someone’s day, and send a little love e-note to yourself…

Hating
My face takes forever and a day to put on, so I dress in as few clothes as possible.
Which is why I’m hating this Kimberly Ovitz T-shirt dress. I’m in love with it, only it’s so gorgeously sheer, it’d require me to actually wear more than one-piece of clothing.
I may have to quit being so lazy…

Wanting
I love minimalism, but I’m a sucker for drape-y dresses and jackets — somehow the shadows and volume and texture hinting at a body are so much more sexy than a tight pattern.
Do you get why I’m digging this Kimberly Ovitz “Hector” jacket, now?

Hating
I like to think that I’m not so much a sucker for branded beauty gadgets, but I’m curious with a Dorian Gray-level of lust for beauty.
So a season ago I blew a couple hundred on no!no! home laser hair removal, which is now on sale at Sephora as they replace it with SensEpil at-home laser hair removal.
Maybe my hair’s too fair — laser hair removal treatment is best for dark, coarse hair — but I never noticed much of a difference with my no!no!. I kept hoping noticeable no!no! results were a session away, but now that I’ve got SensEpil laser hair removal to play with, I’m with Nietzsche: “Hope is the worst of evils, for it prolongs the torments of man.”
Nietzsche also said, “Women’s modesty generally increases with their beauty.” Oh, you flatter me…

Created by the same scientists behind 10+ years of pro laser hair removal technology, TRIA was the first FDA-cleared home laser hair removal.
At $795, TRIA home hair removal system is more expensive than Sephora-pimped SensEpil home laser hair removal, but the e-word is that TRIA removes 90% of your hair, while SensEpil erases about 75%…

Using
Silk’n SensEpil’s PR just sent me their home laser hair removal system. Clinically proven, FDA-cleared, and a flat $500 instead of what I figure are four figures of medispa appoinments, Silk’n SensEpil’s choice. My first Silk’n SensEpil session took an hour, but I’d remove every hair off my body — excepting my brows, lashes, and bob — if I could.
With safety features that block you from using SensEpil if it’ll damage your skin, prevent you from hitting your eyes with the laser, and flash-pulse technology that’s closer to a medispa treatment, Silk’n SensEpil is a 911 and no!no! at-home laser removal’s a tin-can Camry…

Hating
It takes more imagination to reimagine a classic formula than it does to set fire to the wheel.
Menswear classicist Michael Bastian gets it: “The hardest thing is to take something familiar and make it better. The easiest thing is to create something no one has ever seen before. There’s a reason no one’s ever seen it — because someone tried it, and it didn’t work in the real world.”
Maggie Ward gets it: the Los Angeleno, female version of Michael Bastian, Maggie Ward is iconic sportswear made even more flattering.
Too many syllables running off my keyboard? Here’s all you need to know: Maggie Ward is making silk dolphin shorts.
So why my hate? I hate that I can’t buy a pair in stores yet, and I’m debating whether I should happy or sad to see other chicks in these.
I’m so bad about sharing…

Wearing
You could count on one hand how many times I wear pants in a year — I’ve only dresses in my closet, plus a pair of tailored Japanese selvedge jeans, deadstock ’80s skinny jeans I bought in school before skinny jeans were cool (then uncool again), and some Maggie Ward sweatpants. As soon as I discovered Maggie Ward sweats, how often I wore pants doubled.
Like a pair of Marlies Dekkers undies, Maggie Ward sweatspants wear better than air — you’ll barely feel them, but you’ll be desperate to keep them on…

Wanting
Maggie Ward is very ready-to-wear that’s like your best friend: you want everyone to understand how wonderful Maggie Ward is, without having to share her. I’d love to tell you how Maggie Ward takes iconic sportswear — sweatpants, dolphin shorts, sweatshirts — and spins them out of sueded silk, artisanal Japanese fabric, and washable stretch leathers. I’d love for you to understand all the effort that goes into designing this effortless chic –
Without having to see another chick in it.
But you’re going to buy this jumpsuit, too, because Maggie Ward re-imagined this classic right –
This Maggie Ward jumpsuit is that most choice Charlie’s Angels jumpsuit, only made more timeless in a subtle silk.
Tell me before you wear it next time, so we can avoid some blushing…
