Using
CovetShop.com is designer clothing consignment with eBay prices and Net-a-Porter.com gloss. Authenticity is guaranteed, and CovetShop.com calls their curated collection of second-hand, designer duds “pre-loved.”
Aren’t we all.
I love editing my closet almost as much as I dig choosing fresh pieces for it, so I’m selling clothing on CovetShop.com.
And no, this isn’t one of them…

Hating
I bought this T by Alexander Wang T-shirt dress when I was in New York last week.
What a waste of $85 — I wore it one day and it began pilling.
I’ll consider it a favor, though — I’m back to my uniform of custom silk jersey tank dresses and monogrammed shirt dresses. My brief experiment is over…

Wearing
I hate being busy with accessories, so I swap between an Hermes Herbag and Kelly Danse, never bother with belts, and only wear the same jewelry every day (a few pieces that mean more than money).
But I’ll make an exception: this vintage Halston scarf pulses like a Rothko painting…

Wanting
This black vintage Halston one-piece is infinitely sexier than any teenie weenie yellow polka dot bikini. It’s that slashed V-neck hinting at what you don’t see.
So choice…

Eating
I buy Carmela cucumber sorbet every week at the farmers’ market (Carmela hits nearly every one in LA).
Once Carmela ran out of their handmade cucumber sorbet by the time I got there.
I bought lemon basil sorbet instead, and told them I’d just season it with my tears, it was fine…

Wearing
I slather my face with a prescription cream with an active ingredient banned in Japan, I consider playing with needles in 90210 as necessary as SPF 55+, and my LuxLash eyelash extensions probably cost as much time and dough as most haircuts. But there are a few drugstore beauty products I’m a whore for.
I used to love Revlon’s ColorStay — it’ll outlast pillow play — , but I’ve switched to Neutrogena SPF 20 lip gloss for its sun protection and moisture. A sheer color is more flattering than hard lipstick lines, and Neutrogena SPF 20 lip gloss gives you a minty kiss that cools your lips…

Hating
I stick to solid, simple clothes. Patterns are too memorable, and seem obvious compared to the subtle richness of textures and volume.
I’m a sucker for draped fabric, for dresses that hint at your body instead of acting like a second-skin –
But could this Richard Nicoll silk T-shirt dress be less flattering…

Wanting
I love this T by Alexander Wang T-shirt dress — it vibes like an oversized T, only it’s formed more flattering with slightly slouching shoulders and a boatneck instead of a crew neck.
As soon as this T by Alexander Wang T-shirt dress arrives, I’ll hit up International Silks & Woolens and get some silk jersey to have this T-shirt dress copied into…

I’m over VOGUE‘ing, I’ve got no appetite for fleeting fashion. There’s little left to edit out of my closet: I only sport a silk jersey tank dress I’ve had made into a billion different colors, a hooded, shawl-neck coat in cotton or wool, and either an Hermes Kelly Danse or an Hermes Herbag (a Birkin’s boring). The only thing I’ve been lusting for, besides having a few more shirt dresses made, is a T-shirt dress I can copy into silk.
Unfortunately, it must be in this fashion to be over fashion, because everyone is pimping a silk T-shirt dress, including Urban Outfitters…

Going
The International Watch & Jewelry Guild (IWJG) trade show crams millions of dollars worth of merch in a Vegas Hilton conference room roamed by guard dogs at night. A IWJG member has to vouch for you — photo ID, please — before you can see loose diamonds rolled up in tissue paper, watch vintage Pateks replace cash as currency, and hear friendly haggling set market prices.
The veneer of the bling business is stripped away, and you’re left with the soul of what most people would sell their souls for.
No one at the IWJG would, though.
But they will cut you a deal on a Paul Newman Rolex Daytona…
