If I weren’t married to summers in the Hamptons, I think I’d go find my Humphrey Bogart in Casablanca. We’d philosophize in sleepy French dive bars, be heavy in love, and look uber chic all the while. And then, when I’d have to fly home, he’d present me with this beautiful necklace of turquoise and apatite crocheted into gold wire, and tell me the chalcedony briolette reminded him of me, as I am his sun. Then I’d gag and hurry back to New York.

It’s that cableknit sweater I kept from a Southampton summer boy-fling — only turned sexy-sophisticate. And considerate — each handmade purse is lined in pink cotton, secured with a magnetic snap, and topped with a removable shoulder strap. And this clutch knows how to accessorize — pick any shade of grosgrain or satin ribbon, play with its bow-tie, and adorn with extra brooches. And the 100% Virgin wool bag is in perfect shape — a lean 14″x17″. Best of all? The clutch is always ready to hit the beach — and it won’t tell me my bikini makes my butt look “uh, kinda, big.”

There’s a scene in The Great Gatsby that was cut out: Daisy shows up to a decadent Tikki party thrown on Gatsby’s sprawling Long Island estate. Gatsby approaches Daisy and presents her with this silk and brocade handbag, detailed with metallic discs and silver embossed handles. She grabs the bag, professes her love for Gatsby, and they elope to Manhattan. I guess Fitzgerald thought it cut short thematic development. Shrug.
