20.Nov.2009 Wanting
I tried convincing myself this’d be perfect for planes, but somehow stripping down to a vintage Halston cashmere jumpsuit to walk through security doesn’t seem more appropriate than a slip of a silk jersey tank dress.
And then I’d have to peel this off in a flying bus bathroom.
Give me a couple of days and I’ll manage to rationalize why I need a museum-quality, Halston cashmere catsuit. Maybe Sundance…

13.Nov.2009 Hating
I’m so bummed this Halston ultrasuede shirt dress and its matching hat and bag are sold, though the likelihood of me covering my bobbed hair or trading my Kelly bag to wear either is low. Sometimes I want to buy beautiful things just so other people who appreciate them less can’t have them; instead of giving away or selling old clothes sometimes I just shred them to pieces.
It’s a good thing I generally don’t like pets…

13.Nov.2009 Wearing:
I’ve had a Norma Kamali-like shawl-collar wrap coat made into a different color for every season: chocolate tropical wool, blue sueded cotton, gray winter wool, etc…
But I’m eying this choice Halston ultrasuede robe coat.
You’re right, I need another minimalist wrap coat like I need another hand-etched, “K” initial pinky ring.
I’m buying it…

09.Nov.2009 Wanting
Of the handful of fashion designers inspired by Ayn Rand, Kimberly Ovitz’s loving The Fountainhead makes the most sense. A black and white palette plays up Kimberly Ovitz’s form-follows-function fashion, and the elegance of the economy of her design celebrates a raw femininity. Check this inky essence of a dress, this Kimberly Ovitz floor-length silk jersey dress. So choice…

03.Nov.2009 Wanting
This Alexander Wang draped back top is a calm lavender, but the naked back it frames is still stimulating. Maybe it’s our desensitization to the Hollywood Hills’ hills, maybe it’s the vulnerability of an open back, or maybe it’s just the charm of admiring a woman who’s both wildly revealing and a faceless stranger.
And maybe I should just buy this Alexander Wang draped back top…

03.Nov.2009 Wearing
My closet’s pretty clear: made-to-order “KD” monogrammed shirt dresses, a rainbow of solid silk jersey racerback tank dresses (I just had one made in lavender), and plenty of satin slippers…
Consistency is underrated.
But I do like great surprises: something truly unexpected, though it feels fated. Like the backless blouses I started collecting. I especially love this Halston draped back top I bought in pewter: its high necklace melts into its blooming, body-skimming shape — which flutters open into a flash of naked back.
Endings are so important…

Forgetting about the flying bus’s bathroom, isn’t this Norma Kamali all-in-one-jumpsuit perfect for traveling? It’s Audrey Hepburn-hip worn simple like this, and you can also twist it into a halter or one-shouldered top…

So I actually love this Norma Kamalibay all-in-one tunic, against my will — for years I’ve abstained from wearing patterns. But Norma Kamali is one of the few brands I’m a sucker for…
