Wearing

While I was in New York for a few days last week, I skipped through Bleecker and popped into Brooks Brother’s Black Fleece boutique. Half of the store was 60% off, including a gray knit blazer with sterling silver buttons that reminded me of an updated version of those vintage Chanel suits I’ve been hungry for. I had the jacket tailored on the spot, and it — and its matching gray knit, pleated skirt — are being shipped to me.
I’ll sport this Black Fleece knit blazer over one of my bajillion silk jersey tank dresses, or paired with its Black Fleece knit skirt, a custom white buttondown and my new Brian Atwood “Candy” slingbacks.
So the whole point of Black Fleece is mix-matching better-made Brooks Brother’s classics — I love having a solid suit…

I’m knocked down with a summer cold, so I’m delaying relaying my trip to London town, and pics of my new pet, an Hermes Kelly Danse. I’m spending my day with work, watching Dangerous Beauty, and lusting for this Mercer hotel silk robe. Maybe I can pick one up next week in New York… |

In a nude satin, with pleated kimono sleeves and a wrap-around belt, this reversible Vital silk robe makes being sick, sick. And for you? The nude silk robe is more than half off at Saks… |

With black hole-wide sleeves, a trailing hemline, and an orchid embroidered on the back, what do you do in a silk robe like this? Recite lines from Sunset Blvd.? It is on sale at Gilt.com, so maybe you should just buy it, wack off the hemline, and sport it as a dress… |

I’ve a uniform: a custom-made silk jersey tank dress, a fancy Hermes fanny pack (pictures of my pet to come, my pets), and four-inch Giuseppes. This keeps me overdressed by most LA standards, but lately I’ve been hunting for a suit to wear to rare meetings. And what beats investing in vintage Chanel? What i love most about vintage Chanel suits are their no-one-else-knows luxury, like that gold chain-weighted hem… |

Vintage Chanel suits purr power, like the engine of a Phantom, like the Godfather petting a kitten. Sure, the brass buttons give this Chanel suit away, but the boxy blazer skims over a blouson top, tucked into a loose skirt, all in a basic black that only serves as a background to your own beauty. This vintage Chanel suit says you don’t need to say anything… |
 |
The whole appeal of a vintage Chanel suit isn’t so much in a super flattering silhouette as in the quiet luxe of it, the economy of its elegance, the subtlety of its sex. So why bother with a boring red suit tagged Chanel? Thanks for nothing, Karl… |

I’m back from vacay, but I’m not giving up my new found love for Panama hats. Handwoven in Ecuador, Panama hats are classic, quiet luxury, and Brent Black rolls the Rolls of Panama hats. Check that soft, hand-blocked brim of this women’s Panama hat… |

I bought a wide-brimmed Panama hat part for the fashion, more for the sunblock. That brim is Audrey Hepburn hip, but I prefer breakfast at Hermes… |

A fedora Panama hat is classic, especially when it’s handwoven and hand-blocked by Brent Black. Unfortunately, while Posh debased the Birkin, douches around the world hijacked the fedora… |
